We sailed on the Carnival Celebration Jan 8th - 15th 2023. We did the 7 day cruise to Amber Cove Dominican Republic, San Juan Puerto Rico & St. Thomas US Virgin Islands. We spent the christmas and new year's of 2019 in the lovely caribbean! We started our vacation with a couple of days in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. Part 2 of the trip, and the main event, was the majestic and brand new ship Encore, by Norwegian Cruise Lines. We visited San Juan - Puerto Rico, St. Thomas - U.S. Virgin Islands, and Tortola - British Virgin Islands. Part 3 of the trip was spent in Tampa and Busch gardens.

I recently pulled in to San Juan Puerto Rico cruise port on Princess Cruises, Sky Princess cruise ship. I didn't book an excursion and I didn't need a taxi. I just walked off the ship and was able to go to an amazing beach, a historic national park, and have a great traditional Puerto Rican mofongo meal at an awesome little restaurant.

San Juan Puerto Rico is one of the busiest Caribbean Cruise Ports. Lots of cruise lines visits here including Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruises, Princess, Celebrity Cruises and a bunch of others. We're going to give you a tour of what you’ll experience here if you decide to walk around the port. This can help you to understand if you should pick an excursion or not. Stay tuned to find out what we thought and how you can prepare for your day in San Juan.
We have a variety of cruise ports videos and we organize them into categories. We review arrivals and departures, port atmosphere, food and dining, what is near the port, what you need to bring and our overall thoughts.
The San Juan Puerto Rico Cruise port is very popular with around 500 cruise ships stopping here every year. There can be up to 7 cruise ships here at once between the 4 piers, and 2 cruise terminal buildings. For some cruisers this will be a port of call on their itinerary while others it will be the homeport to start and end their cruise. There is no need to tender with the 4 piers.
San juan is the capital and largest city in Puerto Rico.The pier is close to downtown, but there is not much at the pier. This is not a manufactured Port like Costa Maya .As you exit the terminal building or get to the end of the pier there is a main street you will walk up to get to the old city, along the road there are local vendors set up selling their products. The cruise port is in a great location just a few blocks from historic old San Juan.
